Government says it took the Access to Information Bill (ATI) to Parliament because it has nothing to hide unlike the previous regimes.
Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana says the UPND introduced the bill to Parliament in 2002 while in opposition.
He said that the previous regime also feared that the Access to Information law would endanger national security.
He disclosed that the Access to Information Bill presented to Parliament has provided for exemptions of information that borders on national security.
Mr. Kawana said this when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Media, Information and Communication Technologies chaired by Hon. Raphael Mabenga.
