….urges UPND to understand that the church represents the voice of the voiceless

Mansa Central Member of Parliament and Patriotic Front presidential candidate, Dr Chilufya Chilufya , says there’s need for those charged with responsibility to govern the nation to respectfully engage with the Church leadership.

“For those of us who are charged with the responsibility to govern the nation and, furthermore, as custodians of national values, we ought to respectfully engage with the church leadership. These are people who are endult, people who work within the communities and speak for the voiceless. What they say is representative of what is happening in the communities,” Dr. Chilufya calmly explained,

Dr. Chilufya has explained that feedback can be positive or negative but that in leadership, one must be able to embrace feedback in whichever manner it’s delivered.

“And so my message to my colleagues in politics is that let us be accommodating to divergent views and to positive or negative feedback. And it is important that we recognize other stakeholders in governance, people who genuinely live in our communities, shepherd our communities, get the feedback from the communities, the suffering of our people. When they voice out they mean well and it is counterproductive to frown upon feedback,” he advised.

He has further advised to reflect on gains politicians can make tapping into this vast reservoir of counsel.

“It would be in the best interest of all of us to regard the church as a reservoir of deep wisdom, as a reservoir of counsel and we should all ensure that we meaningfully and respectfully engage with them. And this we owe to our people. As custodians of national values, we also teach our children on how to meaningfully engage with the Church and other stakeholders. It’s important that we are civil in our language,” the former Minister of Health counselled.

The Mansa Central lawmaker has emphasized the need to ensure that politicians become sober, civil and respectful to the people that gave them the mandate. These people speak through the Church leadership and other well meaning stakeholders representing the voice of the voiceless.
