POLICE, DEC AND COUNCIL NAB 41 IN JOINT OPERATION AT INTERCITY

Forty One (41) people have been apprehended during a joint clean-up operation conducted in Lusaka’s Intercity Bus terminals area.

The 41 includes 3 females and 38 males who were found illegally trading in the area. Out of this number 31 were Junkies picked for Idle and disorderly conduct, 8 were picked up for illicit trading without proper trading licences and 2 for illicit dr@g related offenses.

This operation follows numerous reports from the members of the public in the area that have been inconvenienced by reported disorderly conduct in the area, and our own joint investigations that confirmed these reports.

The operation which was conducted by the Zambia Police Service, the Drug Enforcement Commission and Lusaka City Council started at 09:00hrs hours and ended at 11:30hours.

The officers picked up assorted alc0hol substances, Dr@gs including C@nnabis, suspected narc0tics and C0rdine. All illegal structures in the area have since been demolished.

Investigations have been instituted and security officers have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.

All suspects shall be detained in Police custody waiting to be formally charged.

This clean up operation is in line with the inter agency framework agreement among law enforcement agencies to curb organised crime in the country.
