THE Ministry of Health in Southern Province has in the last 24 hours recorded twelve new Cholera cases.
Southern Province Health Director Doctor Calitus Kayunga says 9 of the cases are from Monze and 3 from Mazabuka.
He explains that most of these cases reported in Monze and Mazabuka districts are imported from Itezhi- tezhi fishing camps.
Kayunga says the Province has recorded 72 cases cumulatively and 4 deaths with Monze and Mazabuka recording the highest numbers.
He says 10 out of the 15 districts in the Province have reported cases while the other 5 have not yet reported any.
Kayunga adds that 43 patients have been discharged and 27 are currently under care treatment in Monze and Mazabuka.
He further notes that the provincial office has received funding from the National Office which will be used to intensify the fight against Cholera.
