Choongo Chiefdom Coordinator Senior Headman Chimpati has advised government to halt the construction of roads and other projects under Constituency Development Fund –CDF- and divert the funds to addressing hunger.
Chimpati tells Byta FM Zambia News that focusing on projects such as roads and classroom blocks at the moment is a missed priority as hunger has taken center stage in the country.
He says a good road network means nothing if people starve and perish due to hunger hence the need to use the money to respond to hunger.
Chimpati says government should address hunger through construction of more dams and other water points which will enable the people across the country venture in gardening and access water for their livestock.
The Traditional Leader says this year, government should divert attention to hunger to avoid loss of life for both livestock and human beings.
And Gwembe Valley Development Advocate Winter Muvombo says government should quickly prioritize food security above good roads in rural areas.
Muvombo says roads and other infrastructure development is not valuable as long as people are hungry.
