Constitutional Lawyer John Sangwa has described as lawlessness and anarchy, the recognition of Mafinga Member of Parliament Robert Chabinga as leader of the opposition in Parliament without following the procedure provided for by the constitution.
Mr. Sangwa explains that the constitution states that the leader of opposition in Parliament must be elected by an opposition political party with the highest number of Members of Parliament, but wonders why speaker of National Assembly Nelly Mutti can recognize Mr. Chabinga as leader of opposition in Parliament when no elections were held.
Speaking when he featured on the Tuesday edition of let the people talk program on Phoenix FM, Mr. Sangwa observes that the country currently has a broken system of government which has led to the anarchy and violation of the constitution recently witnessed in the National Assembly.
He is concerned that all the systems of government which include the Executive, Judiciary and Parliament are broken as evidenced by a number of illegalities committed by those in office as a result of abuse of authority and has since called for a radical transformation of government systems.
