A 27-Year old man in Chama district of Eastern province, is battling for his life at Chama district hospital, after he attempted to commit su!c!de by drinking ac!d.
The incident occurred on 1st February, 2024, around 16:50hours.
The man has been identified as Ackim Nkhowani of Mayard compound in Chief Kambombo’s Chiefdom.
Chama District Town Council Chairperson Mr Gift Kumwenda has confirmed the sad development to Kwenje Radio today.
Mr. Kumwenda said the victim was rushed to Chama district hospital, where he was attended to and later on got admitted.
The Council Chairperson said he visited the victim at the hospital and found him in an unconscious condition.
He said the motive behind the attempted su!c!de is not yet known, as the victim was unable to give a statement because of the conditions he was in.
Mr. Kumwenda has urged people to seek for help whenever faced with challenges rather than rushing into taking their lives.
And when reached for a comment, Police says they have not yet received any report of attempted su!c!de case in Chama District.
