The Information and Communication Technology Association- ICTAZ electoral general conference campaigns have heated up with a smear campaign against top contender Mazuba Hankuku.

ICTAZ is scheduled to hold its elective general conference slated April 5 with candidates set to have gone into full swing in campaigns.

Some candidates are now taking a toll in name calling and trading with accusations of misconduct against leading contender Hankuku

But the Association’s vice president Zeko Mbumawe has alleged that Mr Hankuku is not fit for the position having previously used insulting language against some out going executive committee members and cost them over k600,000 in legal costs in the courts of law .

Mr Hankuku served as executive chairperson in the outgoing executive while Mr Mambwe is not a contender in the election but is backing the outgoing president Clement Sinyangwe who is running for relection .

Mr Hakuku was last year engaged in legal battles with the Association executive folliwng attempts to remove him from his position where he served as executive committee member but the case was discontinued due to laspe of time .

And Mr Hankuku says at no time did the association save K600,000 in legal fees as the there was no demand of such an amount because the case was discontinued.

He says the association paid K160,000 to the lawyers and are now trying to use the imaginary K600,000 as a justification for paying the K160,000 to the members who may not have the full details.

The ICTAZ presidential contender has challenged the outgoing executive to prove through invoices to prove the costs incurred during the process .

He says the people raising the matters of the court process are simply trying to smear him for purposes of wanting to win the election at all costs .

Mr Hankuku says his election nomination was successful because he is in good standing with the Association.

He is of the view that some of the contenders especially from the outgoing executive are scared of the challenge he posses having put up professional campaigns and sticking to real issues affecting the Association.
