Police have been deployed to guard the Patriotic Front-PF Secretariat to avoid clashes between rival camps following former President EDGAR LUNGU’s announcement to return to active politics.
Home Affairs Minister JACK MWIMBU says the PF wrangles if left unchecked can affect peace and lead to loss of investor confidence.
And the minister has dismissed insinuations that government is sponsoring Newly elected party President MILES SAMPA to distabilise the Party. Mr. MWIMBU said this at a press briefing in LUSAKA today.
The Minister explained that the PF’s extraordinary convention was guarded by the police because the convenors issued a timely notice for the event.
He also dispelled allegations that Police have been denying permits to the Given Lubinda led camp saying they have been resisting adjusting the schedules once there are security concerns on the proposed dates for their rallies.
Meanwhile, Mr.MWIMBU has praised the security wings in the country for the recent clamp down on notorious criminals commonly known as junkies in CHIBOLYA compound and other parts of LUSAKA.
He says government is committed to ensuring peace and security among all ZAMBIANS .
