Kitwe, Zambia – October 15, 2023 – United Prosperous And Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) Leader Charles Chanda has challenged the UPND government to take a bold step and subsidize all mealie meal prices so it remains uniform. Chanda stresses that it is time for the government to stop pleasing its campaign funders at the expense of Zambians by giving South African companies such as ShopRite deals.

Chanda notes that the use of ZNS to produce cheap mealie meal is another form of subsidy, but the UPND government is playing Mickey Mouse with the economy because they do not want their puppet masters to laugh at them for being total failures in the last two years as an experimental disaster government.

“Zambians are tired of being played with by those in power who do not understand the struggles that families go through every day just to put a meal on the table,” says Chanda. “The UPND government has the power to make a difference, but they are choosing to follow their selfish interests instead of prioritizing the needs of the people.”

Chanda also points out that it is not just about providing cheap mealie meal, but about ensuring that all Zambians have access to food that is affordable and of good quality. He argues that the government’s failure to take action is only deepening the already dire conditions faced by many Zambians.

“Zambians deserve better than this. It is time that the government takes responsibility and takes action to ensure that all Zambians have access to affordable and quality food,” says Chanda. “I challenge the UPND government to step up and do the right thing for the people of this country.”

Chanda’s call for action comes at a time when the cost of living in Zambia has been on the rise, with many struggling to make ends meet. It is time for the government to take decisive action and prioritize the needs of the people.
