Government plans to reconsider the levy of between 80 to 1.8 ngwee something the Opposition MPs say will disadvantage the vulnerable people.

Speaking at a media briefing today, Chinsali Member of Parliament Kalalwe Mukosa says government should feel pity for the Zambian people as they are already paying so much through toll gates, pay as you earn, value added tax and road taxes among others.

Mr Mukosa says mobile money transactions are mostly done by the underprivileged people as most of them do not have bank accounts and going ahead with this proposal will be very unfair on them.

Meanwhile Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has called on government to clarify on the alleged importation of 10 million tonnes of GMO maize from South Africa.
